6HP Craftsman Pressure washer has low pressure after installing new pump. Vertical mount Unit, is leaking!?

I am not getting any high pressure, just low pressure stream of water, and a lot of water leaking, but when trigger is released the pressure builds up and the engine shuts down! I checked for obstructions, none found! Unit is about 8 years old, 2,000PSI, 2GPM any ideas??
